Pricing questions

What does "per API" mean?

Each API you sell has its own developer portal, customers and pricing, and its own MicroAuth plan. One account can run several APIs on different plans.

What is a tracked request?

Every request your API serves to a customer key counts toward the monthly allowance, whatever its response code. The response code only decides whether the request also charges your customer's balance. By default only 2xx responses do.

What happens when I reach the monthly allowance?

We email you at 80% and again at 100%. Once the allowance is used up, the SDK answers new requests with 429 until the month resets or you upgrade, so you never get a surprise bill.

Who counts as a customer?

A customer is one account on your portal, either a single developer or a team. The built in test customer doesn't count. When you reach your plan's limit, new sign ups wait until you upgrade.

Do you charge per transaction or take a revenue share?

No. Your customers pay you through your own Stripe account. Stripe's own fees are the only cost per transaction, and our price stays the same whatever you earn.

Can I upgrade or downgrade later?

Any time, from your API's settings in the dashboard. Moving between paid plans is prorated, so you only pay for the time on each plan. Moving to Free ends the subscription right away.

What happens if a payment fails?

Stripe retries the payment and everything keeps working for a 7 day grace period. If the payment still hasn't gone through by then, the API moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted.
