Terms of service
Last updated: October 11, 2026
These terms are a contract between you and Zyref, LLC ("Zyref", "we", "us") that governs your use of MicroAuth, including the website and dashboard at microauth.com, the API at api.microauth.com, developer portals hosted under microauth.dev or on custom domains, and our SDKs (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you accept on behalf of a company, you confirm that you have the authority to bind it.
1. What MicroAuth does
MicroAuth helps you run an API business. It hosts a developer portal for your customers, manages their API keys, and provides tooling that enforces rate limits and usage billing inside your own API. Your API traffic doesn't pass through our infrastructure. We receive configuration, account information and usage counts, not the requests your customers send you.
2. Your account
- You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it current.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping passwords, API keys and SDK secrets confidential. We recommend turning on two step verification.
- If you believe your account or keys are compromised, rotate the affected keys and contact us promptly.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
3. Your customers
People who sign up on your developer portal are your customers, not ours. You set the prices, you receive the payments (through your own Stripe account or your own billing system), and you are responsible for your relationship with them, including your own terms, support and refunds. We aren't a party to transactions between you and your customers and we take no share of that revenue.
You are responsible for what your API does and for having the right to offer it. If your customers' use of your API breaks these terms, it is your responsibility to deal with it.
4. Fees and billing
- Paid plans are billed per API, monthly and in advance, through Stripe. Prices are listed on the pricing page.
- You can change or cancel an API's plan at any time from the dashboard. Changes between paid plans are prorated. Moving to the Free plan ends the subscription right away.
- Fees aren't refundable except where the law requires it. If we get something badly wrong, write to us and we'll sort it out like reasonable people.
- A failed payment starts a 7 day grace period during which paid features keep working. If the payment is still unresolved when the grace period ends, the API moves to the Free plan and keeps its data.
- Prices may change. We'll give you at least 30 days notice before a change affects you.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to sell access to APIs that are themselves unlawful;
- try to breach, probe or get around our security or rate limits;
- interfere with the Service or with other customers' use of it;
- misrepresent who you are or who you are affiliated with;
- resell the Service itself as your own platform, as opposed to using it to run your API business;
- send spam or abusive content through portal invitations or other emails the Service sends.
We may suspend accounts or APIs that break these rules. When practical we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
6. Your content and data
You keep all rights to your branding, your API, your configuration and your customer relationships. You grant us the limited license needed to host and display them as part of running the Service, for example showing your logo on your portal. We use your data as described in the privacy policy. We don't sell it, and we don't mine your customers' information for our own purposes.
7. Our property
The Service, including its software, design and documentation, belongs to Zyref and its licensors. Our published SDKs are licensed under the terms that come with them. These terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks, apart from the "Powered by MicroAuth" attribution the Service itself displays.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service fast and available, and its design keeps your API serving even during a MicroAuth outage. Still, the Service comes without an uptime guarantee unless we have signed a separate agreement with you. We may improve or change features over time. If a change materially reduces what you pay for, you can cancel and we'll refund the unused part of that month.
9. Termination
- You can stop using the Service and delete your APIs at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially break these terms, create legal exposure for us, or stay unpaid after notice.
- After termination we delete or anonymize your data on the schedule in the privacy policy. Export what you need first.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non infringement. You are responsible for configuring enforcement settings, such as fail open behavior and billable status codes, in a way that fits your business. Request admission runs in SDK code you control. It isn't a gateway you can't bypass, and it can't guard against modified client code.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or revenue. Our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the event that gave rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
12. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify Zyref against third party claims arising from your API, your content, or your breach of these terms, provided we notify you promptly and let you control the defense.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Zyref, LLC is organized, without regard to conflict of law rules. Courts located in that state have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes we'll email account owners or show a notice in the dashboard at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
15. Contact
